Boracay divers.

Boracay divers.  PADI Open Water Teaching Presentations and Rescue Diver Exercise 7.  SCUBA diving IDC and IE.

OK, so these Boracay divers are holding the line, which we like to see, but bubble-heads are not SCUBA (self-contained).  Why do I feel that these Boracay divers could end up as a real Ex. 7? 🙂

Boracay divers may enjoy free diving for life if they take their PADI IDC with me there, subject to.

  • Boat space.
  • Min. no. of paying guests.
  • Payment of tax.
  • No special trips.
  • Use of own kit.
  • Helping out.

Your PADI Instructor Exam will have four modules.

  • Written Exams.
  • Knowledge Development.  Boracay divers will find it easy to sell diving trips in class.
  • Confined Water.
  • Open Water.  Boracay divers will know that we have great dive sites on our Island.

The 2015 PADI Asia-Pacific IE Fee is AUD Australian dollars A$785 and the charge to resit each segment is AUD 330.  PADI Europe, Middle East and Africa charges EUR €500 euros for your first IE and €225 for each module resit.  To receive credit, you must pass whole segments.  To date all of my students have passed their first IE, inc. all my Boracay divers.  PADI will take your IE Fee, IDC Application Fee and EFRI Application Fee from your card at the start of your IE.

The Open Water module of the PADI IE has two parts and you will find out which your team will do first at the start of this segment.

  • Open Water Teaching Presentation.
  • Rescue Ex. #7, either pocket mask or mouth-to-mouth, which you will find out at the start of your IE.

You will have two skills to teach in your presentation, often one from the PADI Open Water Diver Course and one taken from.

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive—Navigate a straight line out and its reciprocal with a compass.  Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive—efficient fin kicks; or hover either for 60 seconds or in two different positions with no min. time.  Search and Recovery Dive—lift bag; or tie bowline, two half-hitches (careful!) or sheet bend.
  • PADI Rescue Diver Course—Ex. 2 panicked diver at the surface or quick reverse; Ex. 4 overexertion or distressed air-sharing ascent; Ex. 6.

The Open Water skill could be.

  • The five point descent from Dive 2, 3 or 4.
  • Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent or CESA.
  • Hover in one position with no min. time.
  • Any other one.

There is a make-up on your Rescue Ex. 7 only.  You need to.

  • Approach.
  • Make initial contact.
  • Initiate ventilations.
  • Establish buoyancy.
  • Protect and maintain their airway.
  • Maintain the cycle of ventilations.
  • Remove both sets of kit.  I have examined a student who forgot to take his own kit off.
  • Tow during resuscitation.

You have no make-up on the PADI Open Water Teaching Presentation.  The mean average of the scores for the two skills needs to be a min. of 3.4 out of 5.0.  This means that the worst score for a skill is a 2.0 and that the other must then be a min. of a 4.8.
