IDC Staff Course

IDC Staff Course. Philippines―Boracay; and El Nido, Palawan.  Multi-award winning PADI Course Director Dan Robinson.

Each two months, multi-award winning PADI Course Director Dan Robinson runs a Philippines IDC Staff Course in parallel with his IDCs on Boracay and in El Nido on Palawan.

PADI IDC Staff Instructors are assistant instructor trainers (like a Divemaster to a CD) and can train AIs through 5* Dive Centres or higher.  They can also staff PADI IDCs.  New PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructors can train DMTs as soon as their Instructor Exam papers are processed!  My IDC Staff Course will give you the confidence you need to evaluate DMTs and will also upgrade your Dive Theory knowledge to role model level.

IDC Staff Course candidates must score 80 per cent. on the five exams (Physics; Physiology; Equipment; Skills and the Environment; and Decompression Theory and the DSAT Recreational Dive Planner) and on the PADI Systems, Standards and Procedures Exam, rather than the 75 per cent. on their IE.  All exams are sat with me this time, so there are no more PADI IE fees!  The 2017 PADI Europe, Middle East & Africa IDC Staff Application Fee is €88.

After IDCS comes PADI Master Instructor (MI).  A PADI MI must have certified at least five AIs; or staffed at least two IDCs; or have three AIs and one IDC.  Also, an MI must have at least 150 student certs., including at least 50 “Advanced Certs.” that are above Open Water or are any PADI Specialities (max. 25 from non-diving specs. like Equipment).  Each candidate on each IDC staffed counts for this, up to a max. of eight per IDC.  The IDC that the IDC Staff Course accompanies does not count for any PADI MI requirements.

Course Director is the highest rating in the PADI system and is achieved by being selected to attend a Course Director Training Course, held twice per year, once on Borneo and once in the Caribbean.  CDTCs are always over-subscribed (i.e. competitive entry).  CDTC applicants must have staffed at least two IDCs, after they have finished the IDC Staff Course.  The IDC that the IDC Staff Course is run alongside does not count as one of these two.  Successful candidates have usually staffed far more (I had done 16).  Excluding all Emergency First Response certs., PADI CDTC applicants are also ranked by their continuing education conversion ratio, being their Advanced Certs. divided by their total certs..  This has nothing to do with whether students have already done a course with them.  PADI’s target is 70 per cent. (I had over 80 per cent.).

I shall be most pleased to welcome you to my Philippines IDC Staff Course on the paradise island of Boracay; or in idyllic El Nido on Palawan.  You will enjoy World-Class diving for free.
