Open Water SCUBA Instructor.

Open Water SCUBA Instructor.  Second part of IDC with award-winning PADI CD Dan Robinson.

If you are a PADI AI or you are a dive instructor from another agency, then you may choose to omit the first part of the IDC and move straight on to the second bit, the OWSI Course.  An IDC Staff Instructor may train an AI.  AI Courses are done at a PADI 5* Dive Centre.  CDs are present for the Open Water SCUBA Instructor part of the IDC.  OWSI courses are done at a PADI 5* IDC store.

I am happy to set up a Skype (DiverDanDan) video chat with you to check you are ready to do just the OWSI part of one of my IDCs.

The first part of the IDC has a number of topics that you may do either on-line or in class with an IDCS.  However, this is also when you first learn how to do knowledge development and confined and open water teaching presentations.  You must get certain grades on each of these three to pass both your OWSI course with me and then again your Instructor Examination with the PADI Examiner.  You must pass an IE to become an Instructor.  There are no crossovers to PADI, only from.  We may cross over in one day to other agencies with any one of their instructor trainers and no IE.  80% of divers in Asia learn with PADI.  75% of the World’s divers learn with PADI.

You must pass full sets of Dive Theory Exams with me on your OWSI Course, before I may send you to your IE, when you must pass them again.  The five topics are:  Physics; Physiology; Decompression Theory and the PADI DSAT Recreational Dive Planner; Equipment; and Skills and the Environment.  Failing these is the most common cause of not passing an IE.

You may complete both Dive Theory (English or Japanese) for $120 and Instructor Development Course (English, Japanese or Spanish) for $346 via PayPal to daniel_b_robinson@hotmail.com.

I like this old-school chart from pre Digital U/W Photo days.  Many teach DUP Dive 1 as part of Adventures in Diving.  This is a clear breach of standards.  Only Dive 2 credits (plus KR2) and this may only be taught by DUP Specialty Instructors.  After your Open Water SCUBA Instructor Course, we can do the DUP Course, on its own or as part of your MSDT Prep or Internship Programme.
