Discover Tec.

Discover Tec.  May credit to your PADI DSAT TecRec Tec 40 Diver Course.  Instructor Trainer Course Director Dan Robinson.

Discover Tec is like a technical diving PADI DSD.  You can do TecRec Discover Tec in twin tanks or, if your instructor is a PADI Sidemount Instructor or DSAT Tec Sidemount Instructor, in sidemount kit, but not in modified rec. kit (you can do Tec 40 like this).  You will need a 2m long hose.  The depth range is a min. of 2.4m and a max. of 10.0m with air or with any NitrOx the student has a cert. card for.  You do not need the Tec Deep Diver book.  It has two main options.

  1. Do no skills and just discover tec diving kit and start to get used to it.  This way you do not even have to set up your own kit and you do not need a stage/deco tank.  You are at least an 18-year-old PADI Open Water Diver with 10 logged dives or similar from other agencies.
  2. Do all the skills from Tec 40 Dive 1 and get credit for this that lasts for one year.

PADI Tec Instructors may teach PADI Discover Tec.  Certified assistants for DSAT Discover Tec are PADI Assistant Instructors who are PADI Enriched Air NitrOx Divers.  The ratio is 6:1 or 8:1 with one or more CA.

Each two months on the paradise Island of Malapascua, off Cebu, in the Philippines, award-winning DSAT TecRec Course Director Dan Robinson runs his.
